5 DAYS SKURDU HERITAGE TOUR
The name of Skurdu is derived from Bailti word which means a low ground between high places like Shigar and Satpara. This Skurdu valley is 10 kms wide and 40 kms long at the junction of two rivers Shigar and Indus at an elevation of 2,500 meters. The town is situated on the bank of river Indus which bifurcates Himalayan range from Karakorum range and gateway to some of the highest mountains of the world. The name of Skurdu given in history books of 16th century as Askardu or Eskerdow. Since 7th century Skurdu was part of Tibetan Empire under Songsten Gampo and tantric scriptures are found all over Baltistan. In 9th century the control came to Maqpon Dynasty under a Kashmiri prince Ibrahim Shah.
