Karakorams means “crumbling rock” in Turkish. A real description for the giant grey slag heaps capped with snow and tower above the narrow valleys between them. 12 out of the world’s 30 highest mountains are in the Karakoram range. The Karakoram highway 1284 kilometers long the real eighth wonder was a joint sino – Pakistani project completed in 1978. It took 20 years to build when 810 Pakistanis and 82 Chinese laid their lives forcing a road through what has reasonable claim to be world most difficult and unstable terrain. This road runs almost through the middle of collision between Indian plate and Asiatic plate where there an average of one tremor every three minutes . The Khunjrab Pass is the highest metalled border crossing on a surface road in the world (4733m). Rush Lake is located in Nagar Valley at 4,694 meters and one of the highest alpine lakes in the World. It can be reached via Nagar and Hopper Valley via Hoper Glacier and Miar Glacier. The trek to the Rush Lake provide fascinating views of Spantik, Malubiting, Miar, Phuparash and Ultar Sar Peaks .
